The palette behaves like a spectrometer: selective juxtapositions produce local contrasts akin to complementary color interactions and simultaneous contrast phenomena, where a color’s perceived value shifts depending on neighbors. Warm pigments advance and cool pigments recede, leveraging chromatic bias to suggest depth without illusionistic modeling. Subtle near-neutral transitions demonstrate an understanding of value relationships and luminance efficiency—how small changes in lightness alter perception more than equivalent chroma changes.
Formally abstract, the work treats light as both subject and medium. It interrogates perception by making visible the processes that govern sight: scattering, reflection, transmission, and absorption. The result feels scientific in its logic yet sensuous in its execution—an abstraction that stages light as an agent, revealing how optical principles can be translated into pictorial rhythm, tension, and harmony.
